No Temptations, No Alcohol
No, you read that correctly. No alcohol for 45 days with this challenge. Typing that just made me cry a little. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t depend on alcohol to get me through the week or day. That would make me an alcoholic… wouldn’t it?
I enjoy drinking for the social aspect but will admit I am no stranger to the bottle (that was a pretty alcoholic thing to say) when stress gets the best of me. I do really enjoy the taste of wine and combining it with yummy food. I love Margaritas. They are always fun and oh so yummy with good Mexican food. But, I am breaking up with alcohol… for 45 days. We are on a break!!!!
As I might have mentioned before, I am a sugar addict. Hi my name is Meghan and I’m addicted to sugar. Hi Meghan. My husband says I have a little fat kid living inside of me and I agree. With the way I can eat sugar, this most definitely is the case. With that said, I knew it was going to be hard to completely give up sugar in regards to eating it. So, I am giving up the drink, which is made of sugar. I can’t afford to be drinking my calories away. And let’s be honest, if I’m going to cheat, it’s going to be cake or cookies over alcohol. Let’s be real here people.
Twelve days in and I’m happy to report that I have not had any alcohol…now caramel popcorn might be a different story (damn it!) but we will get into that in a later post.
3 Benefits of Not Drinking
- Better sleep – believe it or not, I’ve been sleeping a lot better since I have not been drinking. I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day.
- More focused at work – this might be a result of the first one, but I am able to focus more on my daily tasks without my mind wondering.
- My overall mood is better – I feel lighter and happier during the day and I don’t have such violent mood swings… or at least they are fewer. Hmmm, maybe we should have my husband confirm that one.
Is this the end of my relationship with wine and margaritas for good? I guess we will see at the end of day 45. Onward!
